Cygnum Capital Awarded CFI's Excellence in Sovereign and Supranational Advisory EMEA 2026

Cygnum Capital has been recognised with the Excellence in Sovereign and Supranational Advisory EMEA 2026 Award by Capital Finance International (CFI.co), reflecting the firm's continued leadership in sovereign debt, ratings advisory and development finance across emerging and frontier markets.

The award follows a year in which Cygnum Capital advised sovereign issuers, multilaterals and development finance institutions on a range of landmark financing and strategic initiatives across Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

In January 2026, the firm co-arranged the Republic of Cameroon’s US$750 million seven-year private placement Eurobond and advised on a related cross-currency swap designed to reduce the sovereign’s effective euro borrowing cost. During the year, Cygnum Capital also advised the Republic of Angola on approximately US$4 billion of bond issuances and taps, alongside US$1.25 billion of liability management transactions aimed at smoothing the country’s debt maturity profile and reducing refinancing pressures.

Elsewhere, the firm co-arranged Gabon’s return to the international capital markets and advised Ghana on its first long-dated domestic bond issuance following the country’s debt restructuring programme.

Beyond traditional capital markets advisory, Cygnum Capital has continued to support innovative development finance solutions. Working alongside the World Bank Group, the firm advised on a debt-for-development transaction that enables Angola to refinance up to US$400 million of higher-cost debt while directing savings towards the construction of additional secondary schools expected to benefit more than 32,000 students.

The firm also remains a trusted adviser to sovereign rating agencies and governments seeking to strengthen investor confidence and market access. Cygnum Capital serves as sole international ratings adviser to Georgia and has supported a series of positive ratings and outlook developments. The firm's mandate for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has included advising through the country's first Moody’s upgrade in more than two decades and a subsequent upgrade by S&P.

In the supranational sector, Cygnum Capital was appointed by the International Finance Facility for Immunisation (IFFIm) to undertake its twentieth anniversary strategic review and has advised the International Finance Facility for Education (IFFEd) on innovative contingent capital structures designed to expand education financing capacity.

As global financing conditions continue to evolve, Cygnum Capital remains focused on supporting sovereigns and international institutions with independent advice, market access expertise and innovative financing strategies tailored to the unique challenges of emerging and frontier economies.
